Idaho Falls Idaho |

Idaho Falls is the seat of Bonneville County in eastern Idaho. The significance of the city's role in Eastern Region transportation is shown by the fact that three major routes, I-15, US 20 and US 26 pass through.
Idaho Falls began as a choice miner's fording point over the Snake River. The site was settled by Mormons in the 1860s and received its present name in 1891. The city was incorporated in 1889. Townspeople built irrigation systems that created an agricultural basis for its present economy.
Today Idaho Falls, population 50,730, is the processing and commercial hub of a farm, livestock and dairy region. Plants produce lumber, steel and concrete. Idaho National Engineering Laboratory also is a major nearby employer. Tourism plays a role due to the city's proximity to major recreational areas and national parks.
Points of interest include the Bonneville Museum, a Japanese garden, and the Intermountain Science Experience Center. Rodeos are held here annually.
