Montpelier

Located at the junction of highways US 89 and US 30N, Montpelier is one of Idaho's oldest cities. Among the famous people associated with the town are Brigham Young, who named it after a town in his home state of Vermont, and Butch Cassidy, who robbed the the Bank of Montpelier on August 13, 1896 of $7165. The city is home to the Oregon Trail Center where one can experience "living history" 10:00AM to 5:00PM from May to October. Montpelier is located in Bear Lake County north of scenic Bear Lake home of the infamous Bear Lake Monster.
