Orofino Idaho |
In 1805, members of the Lewis and Clark expedition passed near the present site of Orofino on their way to the Pacific. Some sixty years later, gold miners from California began to enter the area and soon Idaho's first permanent settlements were founded.
The seat of Clearwater County, Orofino is located on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation, and the Clearwater River runs through the town's boundaries.
It is found on US 12 east of Lewiston.
