Carrollton is located in southwestern Illinois in central
Greene County (of which it is the county seat) 20 miles inland from the
Mississippi River and about 50 miles north of
St Louis at the junction of SRs 108 and 267. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,241, a decrease of 266 since 1990.
