Chillicothe is located in central Illinois in northeastern
Peoria County on the western banks of the
Illinois River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 5,947, a decrease of 12 since 1990.
A number of events dot the social calendar here including "ChilliFest" held around the 4th weekend in July and the "Rib Classic Cook-Off" usually held the 3rd weekend in September.
