Crete is located in northeastern Illinois in northern
Will County just south of
Chicago between
Matteson and
Kankakee along Highway 1. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 8,049, an increase of 1,276 since 1990.
Two havens for golfers--Balmoral Woods Country Club and Tuckaway Golf Club--provide the area some tranquil recreation. Those who enjoy festivals will want to experience "The Great Midwest Fair" at Balmoral Park Race Track during Memorial Day weekend and "Wild West Days" held the 2nd weekend in August.
