Depue is located in north central Illinois 10 miles west of
La Salle south of
Interstate 80 and east of
Interstate 180 on the banks of the
Illinois River. The area is referred to as the "Great Bend" in the river as its course changes from a westerly flow to a southerly one.
As part a major migratory flyway for waterfowl, the Donnelley/Depue SFWA Complex facilitates the feeding, resting and harvesting of the birds. In addition, the Donnelley/DePue State Park works to coordinate these efforts with the general public who desire recreational opportunities such as fishing, hiking and hunting.
