Evanston Illinois

Home of Northwestern University

Evanston is located in northern Cook County just north of Chicago on the shores of Lake Michigan along Highway 41. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 71,928, a decrease of 1,305 since 1990.

One of the social highlights of the year is the "First Night Evanston" New Year's Eve bash. The largest celebration in Illinois features ice sculpting and a fireworks display that is hard to top. In addition, the "Custer's Last Stand Festival of the Arts" is always an event locals and others look forward to.

A number of institutions of higher learning call Evanston home including Northwestern University, Kendall College, National-Louis University, Seabury-Western Theological Seminary and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.
