Geneseo

Geneseo is located in northwestern Illinois in Henry County 20 miles east of Davenport, IA, between Moline and Princeton along Interstate 80 about 5 miles south of the Green River and the Hennepin Canal and about 15 miles east of the Rock River.

This quaint Victorian community offers gift, specialty, and antique shops, charming restaurants, and views of many beautiful Victorian mansions. Events include a music festival and "Arts in the Park", the "Hikemabika Festival", a Halloween festival, and a "Victorian Christmas Walk."

Recreation in the area includes outings to Maple Bluff and Countyview Golf Courses. The two are open to the public, unlike Geneseo Country Club which requires an invitation.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 6,251, an increase of 261 since 1990.

About 1,000 attended the festival that year, and enjoyed over 20 bands on 2 stages over the course of 2 days. Since then, Summer Camp Music Festival has grown to more than 15,000 attendees, hosting more than 100 bands on 7 stages over 3 days.
