Princeton is located in north central Illinois in Bureau County (of which it is the county seat) about 15 miles west of La Salle along U.S. Highway 6/34 10 miles north of the scenic Illinois River Valley. Set in the middle of nature's beauty is Wyaton Hills Golf Club for those wanting to get in a quick round.Other nearby outdoor recreation includes trips to the Donnelley/Depue SFWA Complex about 10 miles southeast of town. One of the highlights of late summer is the "Homestead Festival" held the second weekend of September. Activities include a huge parade, "Pork Day" BBQ, a Festival Play, Flea Market, Car Show and Fine Arts show, to name just a few. The population estimate for 2000 was about 7,500.
