Lewistown, often pronounced "Lewiston", is located in western Illinois in
Fulton County (of which it is the county seat) about 35 miles southwest of
Peoria along U.S. Highway 24 10 miles northwest of the
Illinois River.
Places to visit: Dickson Mounds Museum, about 5 miles southeast of town. Of interest: The museum area has a viable population of Albino Fox Squirrels.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,499, a decrease of 73 since 1990.
