Libertyville is located in northeastern Illinois in eastern
Lake County northeast of
Mundelein along SR 21 about 7 miles west of the shores of
Lake Michigan. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 19,976, an increase of 802 since 1990.
One of the crowning jewels of the city is the Libertyville Sports Complex which includes an indoor sports center, golf learning center and a family entertainment center.
Major events include the "Libertyville Days" Festival held in mid-June around Father's Day activities. The "OctoberFest" street dance is held the 3rd Saturday in September and "HarvestFest" is held the 2nd Saturday in October.
