Encore Theatre was founded in 1999 as a summer camp venue to give grade school children, kindergarten through fifth grade, the opportunity to participate in all aspects of musical theatre productions. It operated under the name of B.K.S.M. In August 2001, the name was officially changed to Encore Theatre, with a new charter and purpose: to offer theater and musical theater experience both in workshops and full productions to grade school and high school students on a year round basis.
