Manito is located in central Illinois in northern
Mason County about 25 miles south-southwest of
Peoria between
Pekin and
Havana along Highway 4 about 10 miles east of the
Illinois River. The population estimate for 2000 was, coincidentally, 2,000.
Recreational opportunities abound for this rural community including day trips to nearby Sand Ridge State Forest, about 5 miles west of town, and Banner Marsh SFWA, about 10 miles to the northwest.
