Constructed in 1923, honoring the 182 Illinois men and one woman who gave their lives for their country during World War I.

The stadium has expanded to almost 70,000 seats. A $1.5 million air-supported "bubble" covers the artificial turf for winter conditioning, practice and post-season bowl game appearances.
