Oglesby is located in north central Illinois in La Salle County just southeast of La Salle east of Interstate 39 and just south of the Illinois River. The town is named for Gov. Richard Oglesby who also served as a Major General in the Union Army under Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,600.
