Oregon

Oregon is located in northwestern Illinois in Ogle County (of which it is the county seat) about 25 miles southwest of Rockford on the banks of the Rock River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,937, an increase of 46 since 1990.

Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy outings to White Pines Forest State Park to the west and Castle Rock State Park/Lowden-Miller State Forest to the south. In addition, visitors have a "must see" in the majestic 48-foot tall statue by Lorado Taft of the great Sauk warrior, Black Hawk, which overlooks the river in Lowden State Park to the north.
