Prophetstown is located in northwestern Illinois in Whiteside County about 30 miles northeast of Moline southwest of Rock Falls overlooking the Rock River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,816, an increase of 23 since 1990.This small resort community is the host town of Prophetstown State Park and Big Bend SFWA which offer a variety of recreational experiences including hunting, fishing, boating and camping.
