The population estimate for 2000 was about 6,600. The town invites visitors to shoot a round of golf at Edgebrook Country Club. Other outdoor recreation in the area includes trips to Silver Springs State Park about 5 statute miles to the east-southeast of town and Shabbona Lake State Park 15 miles to the northwest.
