Illinois' largest bluff shelter features strange rock formations and a roaring waterfall. The mineral potasium nitrate, also known as saltpeter, was used in the manufacture of explosives.
The park provides picnic tables, nature trails, travel trailer parking and the use of paddle boats and canoes. Leisure travelers enjoy this family-oriented attraction, which is also used for reunions and wedding receptions.
Located six miles south of Murphysboro in Jackson County on Route 127.
