The history of Down Royal goes back over 300 years. Created by Royal Charter in 1685, the Down Royal Corporation of Horse Breeders aimed at 'encouraging horse breeding in the County of Down.' Nowadays Down Royal Racecourse is Northern Ireland's premier racecourse, with over eleven meetings throughout the year including the popular 2 day Festival of Racing in November. Renowned as both a centre of excellence for horse racing and a first class location for entertainment and corporate hospitality.
