Waterford is a port in
County Waterford on a tidal estuary fed by the
Suir, Barrow, and Nore rivers, some 18 miles from the sea and 94 miles SSW of
Dublin. It has both Roman Catholic and Anglican cathedrals.
Henry II landed nearby in the 12th century and from that time on, Waterford remained under the British crown, sometimes with special privileges, until the formation of Eire.
