Burlington Kansas

Pop. 2,790 Elev. 1037'. Located in the Southeast Region of the state, in Coffey County, and SE of Emporia. Along US Hwy 75 on the banks of the Neosho River near John Redmond Reservoir. Burlington is the Coffey County Seat and located in the heart of SE Kansas.

Home to the Coffey County Historical Society and Museum with 14,000 square feet of display space. The museum features one of the states largest doll collections, a restored 1896 schoolhouse and an 1895 church. Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation is the countys largest employer and the states only nuclear power plant. Tours are available with advanced scheduling. Stop by Luthers Smokehouse and Beef Jerky Factory.

Fishing is plentiful in Coffey County, home to John Redmond Reservoir, Coffey County Lake, New Strawn City fishing lake, Gridley City fishing lake and Lebo City fishing lake.

Comments: There seem to be unexpected weather in the PM. Prices of homes sure have gone up since the last time we were here. Burlington sure has more than enough rude folks pumping gas. On the main roads traffic is busy. A group of friends came through here recently. For a special time, make a point of visiting Coffey County Museum. It's worth the admission!
