Cheney

Cheney, Founded: 1884 is located in Sedgwick County west of Wichita along Highway 251 near Cheney State Park and Kingman. Cheney is part of the Wichita, Kansas metro area.

Cheney has the advantage of having a small town feeling but being only 25 minutes west of the largest city in Kansas- Wichita. Cheney is home to the traditional midwestern events like the Sedgwick County Fair and the Western Sedgwick County Arena Saddle Club annual rodeo. Cheney owes its birth and early development to the railroads. Chartered in 1883, the town was named for Benjamin Price Cheney, a railroad official.
