Ellsworth County. Holyrood is 15 mi. southwest of Ellsworth, the County Seat. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 478, a decrease of 14 since 1990. Situated on Kansas State Hwy-156.Plum Creek runs toward the southeast past Holyrood and into
Rice County.Plum Creek is the onlt creek in the county that does not flow into the
Smoky Hill River.
The extensive stretch of beautiful rolling prairie which includes about the west three-fourths of the south half of the county, is as magnificent a country as the eye ever rested upon.
