Grisell Memorial Hospital was founded in 1928 by Dr. W.S. Grisell, a pioneer physician. At the time of it's founding it was the only rural hospital in Western Kansas. In the 1930's Dr. Grisell gave the hospital to a private corporation known as the Grisell Memorial Hospital Association. In 1948 Ness County Hospital District No. 1 was organized and took over the hospital operation from the Hospital Association. Grisell Memorial has 6 acute beds, 34 long term care beds and 6 swing beds.
