This is the site of the last Revolutionary War engagement fought in Kentucky, in which British captain William Caldwell led a band of American Indians in a two-day raid of the unprotected outpost settlement of Bryan Station. Kentucky volunteers pursued Caldwell on his retreat to the Ohio border, but were ambushed in a 15-minute battle in which they were outnumbered three to one. A granite obelisk commemorates those who died in the conflict; an August Re-enactment Celebration is one of the special events hosted at the park annually.
Included within the park are a lodge and campground, swimming pool, miniature golf course, picnic facilities, a 15-acre nature preserve which protects the historically important Short's Goldenrod, a one-mile loop trail to the Licking River, and a Pioneer Museum exhibiting mastodon bones, Native American and Kentucky pioneer artifacts. Park open daily, 24 hours.
