Carrollton is located in
Carroll County (of which it is the county seat) northeast of
Louisville between Prestonville and Ghent along Highway 42 on the banks of the
Ohio River near General Butler State Resort Park. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,611, a decrease of 104 since 1990.
