Diamond Caverns

This cave, regarded as the state's most beautiful and the second-oldest show cave in Kentucky, has been known and toured for 140 years. Part of the Mammoth Cave Area International Bisphere Reserve, the caverns contain intricate calcite drapery deposits and a vast number of stalacite and stalagmite formations, flowstones, and projecting peaks of onyx. Entrance is through the Diamond Caverns lobby; tours are led throughout the day by professional guide/interpreters. State-of-the-art lighting and concrete trails with safety railings provide an enjoyable look at these natural wonders. Facilities include an 18 hole golf course and campground; the caverns are open year-round, no reservations required.
