This park is a memorial to artist and naturalist John Audubon, a former resident of Henderson. Preserving the woods where Audubon walked, the nature preserve and public park features the John James Audubon Museum and Nature Center. The museum exhibits a unique collection of Audubon's paintings, engravings, and personal memorabilia in four galleries; a wildlife observatory and hands-on Discover Center explain ornithology in the Nature Center. Nature trails of varying lengths are available for views of wildlife and flora; a 28-acre lake offers fishing and swimming opportunties.
Other park features include a nine-hole golf course, cabin rentals, a campground, tennis court, picnic facilities and playground. Year-round interpretive programs and daily summer activities are directed by a full-time park naturalist. Open year-round daily, dawn-dusk; closed major holidays.
