Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor

This museum, named for famous World War II general George S. Patton, is one of the largest in the Army Museum System. Established to preserve historical materials relating to Mechanized Cavalry and Armor, the museum displays German and Japanese war artifacts; an extensive collection of U.S. and foreign tanks and weaponry; and mementos of Patton's military career, including his wartime caravan truck and the sedan in which he was fatally injured in 1945. A battle re-enactment using World War II vehicles and equipment takes place on July 4.

Museum facilities include the Emert L. 'Red' Davis Memorial Library, Armor Memorial Park, and Keyes Park, where visitors can see many historic tanks on display. Admission to the museum is free; self-guided tours of the facility are available. The museum is open daily year-round; closed for Christmas and the New Year holidays.
