Kentucky's Northern Region, also known as the Bluegrass Heartlands, is rich in history. It is the place of Daniel Boone, Abraham Lincoln, the Shakers, Civil War battlegrounds, and "My Old Kentucky Home."

However, the region is probably most famous for its horse-oriented culture. Polo matches, steeple chases, thoroughbred racing, Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, and the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville are just some of the attractions that provide evidence of the area's devotion to equine matters.
