Search Westwego Louisiana

Just 30 minutes across the river from New Orleans is an unsual blend of natural recreation and urban proximity. This is where swampland meets the marsh, and where quiet birding and nature enthusiasts observe unique wildlife not far from squealing children in the wavepool. Activities on land-hiking, biking, picnicking and swimming-are matched only by recreation on the water. Boat lanches provide access to both freshwater and saltwater fishing and catches of bass, catfish, bream, redfish and speckled trout are common. Facilities include 98 improved campsites, 20 waterfront cabins-with AC, screened porches and fishing piers-a massive group camp, playgrounds, picnic tables, pavilions and a wave pool. A conference room rounds out the facilities that make Bayou Segnette State Park one of the most popular parks in the state.
