Immaculate Conception Catholic Church

Search Natchitoches Louisiana

A Franciscan Monk walked 21 miles from the Spanish mission at Los Adaes to say mass in Natchitoches-the first public religious service in the town. Construction on the present church started in the 1850's and was completed in the 1890's. All the fittings and furnishings in the church were imported from France, except for the pews and the stained-glass windows.
