The State Capital building is 34 stories tall and was constructed from 26 varieties of marble from every marble-producing country in the world. A visitors information center is on the first floor, and an observation platform is on the 27th floor. Flanking the granite front steps are the statues "The Patriot" and "The Pioneers" by Lorado Taft. Molded bands depicting Louisiana's industries and natural resorces decorate the entrance.
