Hardtner Medical Center began from the efforts of the citizens of the Olla, Tullos and Urania areas. These citizens saw a need for a modern hospital to serve the area and formed the Hospital Service District #1 of the Parish of LaSalle, State of Louisiana located in Ward 2 of said Parish. The petition to create the district was presented to the Policy Jury on May 3, 1966. The hospital was built in 1969. Services at Hardtner, a general acute medical/surgical hospital include: 24-hour Emergency Room, Hospitalists Program, Acute Medical Care, Acute Surgical Care, Sub-acute Swing-bed Care, General Surgery, Cardiology, Laboratory, Radiology, CT Scan, Ultrasound, Lithotripsy, EKG, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Geri-psychiatric Inpatient Care.
