New Iberia

New Iberia is located in Iberia Parish (of which it is the parish seat) within the Cajun Country Region southeast of Lafayette, between St Martinville and Franklin along Highway 182 near Lake Fausse Pointe and Jeanerette.

Situated just north of Vermilion Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 32,664, an increase of 836 since 1990.
