The commune of Wellenstein, population 1,264, is located in the southeast corner of Luxembourg, 20 kilometers from the capital,
Luxembourg City. Wellenstein, located in the wine-making
Moselle River Valley region, is known for its wine center cooperative, a storage site for vast quantities of wine both in vats and in traditional cellars. The cooperative is surrounded by acre upon acre of vineyards.
Bech-Kleinmacher, Schwebsange, and Wellenstein (population 451) are boroughs within the commune of Wellenstein. The N10 roadway passes through the riverfront boroughs of Bech-Kleinmacher and Schwebsange.
