Essex Massachusetts

Essex is located in Essex County 6 miles W of Gloucester between Ipswich and Manchester along Highway 133 near Hamilton Ski Area. Founded as a shipbuilding center, Essex is home to the fishing schooner "Evelina M. Goulart", one of some 4,000 schooners built in the area. Essex is part of the Boston, Massachusetts-New Hampshire metro area.
