Jos Mateo's Ballet Theatre is a nonprofit professional performance company and school. Founded in 1986, the organization has gained a reputation for innovative programming and artistic excellence under the direction of founder and artistic director Jos Mateo. Based at the Emerson Majestic Theatre in Boston, the company also tours its productions throughout New England. The 20-member company regularly presents original works and new interpretations of classical ballets choreographed by Mr. Mateo. It is the only ballet company in New England to produce an entire repertory of original works by its own resident choreographer. Ballet Theatre's school maintains a comprehensive curriculum and highly qualified faculty. The school is composed of the Young Dancers Program, Summer Program, and an Open Class Program for adults.
