Located on Stage Harbor Rd, this museum was built about 1752 for Joseph C. Atwood, a sea captain and remained in the Atwood family for nearly 175 years. Fully restored, the two story house is furnished in several periods, and additions and out buildings contain historical items, a seashell collection, a portrait gallery and mural depicting the people of Chatham in the first half of the 20th century.
A lighthouse turret and an herb garden are on the grounds.
Open Tuesday - Friday 1pm-4pm in mid-June through September.
