Rockport is located in Essex County 4 miles NE of Gloucester along Highway 127 near Thatcher Island National Wildlife Refuge. Located northeast of Boston on Hwy 128, Rockport is the site of a well-known artist's colony on Cape Ann. Rockport is part of the Boston, Massachusetts-New Hampshire metro area.
