Simon's Rock College of Bard is the nation's only college of the liberal arts and sciences designed expressly for students of high school age. Most students enter Simon's Rock after completing the 10th or 11th grade, and follow programs leading to the Associate in Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees in liberal arts. Students pursue academic work in an environment particularly sensitive to their developmental needs. The college's program challenges their intelligence, imagination, and self-discipline when their interests and needs have grown beyond the scope of their high schools' offerings. Enrollment is about 300; classes average 10-12 per class. Housing is on campus; financial aid is available. The innovative educational methods practiced here make it suitable for highly capable students whose local high school programs do not meet their needs. The school is nationally recognized. Admission is highly competitive.
