Purported to be the oldest commissioned ship in the world, the USS Constitution was built in 1794-1797 by Colonel George Claghorn at Edmond Hartt's shipyard in Boston. Launched in Boston on October 21, 1797, she first put to sea in 1798. Having remained a part of the U.S. Navy since that day, the USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world. Engagements with the British in the War of 1812 brought the vessel undying fame and the nickname "Old Ironsides". It never lost an engagement. USS Constitution Hours: Thursday - Sunday, 12 pm - 4 pm
