Built in Lacrosse Wisconsin by Lacrosse Boat Works, one of sixteen similar vessels. For several years the vessel operated on the Missouri River out of Yankton, South Dakota under the name of Far West as a dinner cruise vessel. In 1996 the Lantern Queen was purchased and completely restored by Captain Jack Morey, owner of J&W Charters.
