The hospital was founded by its president, Francis P. Chiaramonte, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S. In the years since its founding, SMHC has grown into today's 358 bed, full-service, acute and 20 bed subacute facility. The equipment and technology are the latest, but the care remains rooted in the tradition of old-fashioned hospitality.
