Moosehead Lake is the largest lake in Maine. It lies primarily in Piscataquis County, with Somerset County on the western shore. Its altitude is just over 1000 feet above sea level. Moosehead Lake is 35 miles long and varies from 1 to 15 miles in width. It is the source of the Kennebec River.
