Dundee is in
Dundee, and in the
Southeast Region. Dundee is located at the junction of US 23 and M 50 (part of the
Detroit, Michigan metro area).
The first settler to claim Dundee was William Remmington, who came here in 1823. In 1836, a Scottsman by the name of Alonzo Curtis became the second postmaster and decided to move the post office to the town, renaming it Dundee, in memory of his ancestors village in Scotland. That name stuck and it eventually was incorporated as a village in 1855.
Today, Dundee is primarily supported by tourism, along with some small businesses in some of the quaint old buildings.
