Grand Marais is in
Alger County, and in the
Northern Region. This community is located west of
Sault Ste Marie between
Paradise and
Munising along Highway 17 near the shore of
Lake Superior.
To the east of town are miles of unspoiled beaches and state land. Fishing and hunting are popular pastimes spring through fall, and winter brings plenty of snow for snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and ice fishing.
