Manton is in
Wexford County, and in the
Northern Region. This community is located north of
Cadillac on US-131, and situated along the crossroads of State Hwy 42 and US Hwy 131.
Manton was settled by the Irish in the 1800s during the Lumber Days. It still maintains a strong Irish presence which can be best observed during Irish Spring Days, and reflected upon by the historic green fire barn on Main Street.
